Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting social distancing measures, domestic violence has significantly increased throughout the EU. As victims are isolated from their usual support systems and spend more time with the perpetrators of domestic violence in lockdown or isolation, the amount of calls to helplines has increased by up to 32%.
